I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions. But although there’s probably been no year that, looked at from a certain perspective (which would be that of most of the people alive at the time), hasn’t promised more grief than unbridled joy – even before we came up with so many ways to destroy the planet and everything on it - this year is looking particularly gloomy. So I have a resolution for everyone. Once a week, if not once a day, each of us should go outside either early in the morning or late at night and look up at the sky. Really look at that moon. Really stare at those stars. At least once in your life witness the dawn. In that moment when the impossible beauty of the universe is enough to break your heart, we should promise ourselves and every single thing that has ever lived that, this year, we really are going to do better. HAPPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
